The Broadway musical turned movie, Wicked, directed by John M. Chu, has gone explicitly viral on TikTok with genuine humorous trends and the fans’ overwhelming love for the actors.
The fans have expressed their strong dislike for the character, Nessarose, and have made the comment section the vocal point of the TikTok posts. A reoccurring comment that multiple people have commented is, “mama a house above you,” which originated from the original phrase, “mama a girl behind you.” This is referring to the second part of Wicked that will be released November 2025.
My TikTok ‘fyp’ is filled with videos surrounding Wicked because I, myself went to go see it and loved every second of it. There are a multitude of interview clips of actresses, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, in which most of them display how emotional the movie has made them.
At first, the fans were in awe, especially with Ariana Grande considering her history with singer and songwriter, Mac Miller, and her ex-husband, Dawson Gomez. The fans hearts were set for these ladies as it was clear how life changing it was to them. Overtime, it become a little too “excesive,” in which people commented things like, “r they ok” and “this movie better change my life.”
‘Holding Space’ has become the catch phrase that has been set to intertwine the emotional connection between the fans and the two stars actresses. A video was published a while back where journalist, Tracy E. Gilchrist tells the ladies that she has seen people “taking the lyrics of ‘Defying Gravity’ and really holding space with that and feeling power with that.” This comment had fans questioning holds space for what?
Cynthia Erivo replies, “I didn’t know that that was happening. That’s really powerful.” The fans have had a whirlwind of fun commenting on Wicked edits and humorous covers of songs from the movie soundtrack, stating how they are holding space for everything.
